Whether you like it or not, as a business owner or as an entrepreneur, you need to document all income and expenses for tax purposes.

Good bookkeeping helps you to track your finances and make sure that you are not losing money. Here are six reasons to outsource your bookkeeping:

1) Reduce your workload
The first benefit is decreasing your work load, and instead of doing the book work yourself, you can have someone do your bookkeeping.

2) Outsourcing bookkeeping services is cost effective
Outsourcing bookkeeping services for your Gold Coast business is much more
cost effective than having your own bookkeeper in the office. You’ll save more money for your business or minimize your overhead cost.

3) Dangers of DIY Bookkeeping
DIY bookkeeping can be time consuming, and you can soon get overloaded with book keeping work taking time away from your business.

4) Outsource Bookkeeping To Save Time and Money
Outsourcing to professional bookkeepers will not only save you a lot of time and money, but it will also increase the efficiency of your business and the way you run it.

5) Run a Smoother Operation
By outsourcing your bookeeping it will help you run your business much smoother, and you can be sure that it will be much cheaper to outsource it than having an in-house book keeper.

Start saving money and run your business more efficiently by outsourcing book keeping for your Gold Coast small business.

You may have heard of financial window dressing, or cooking the books. It seems to be a skill that governments have mastered at all levels, from local through to Federal governments

<img align="right"src="http://www.yo2go.com/gold_coast_mobile_bookkeeping/cooking-the-books-apron-6-p.jpg" alt="photo source- www.accountingcelebrity.com" />Financial window dressing is where financial managers do certain things to increase or decrease net income that’s recorded in the year. They shuffle figures around to change the true picture of what is going on with the financials.

In the corporate world this sort of activity is known as profit smoothing, income smoothing or just plain old window dressing. This isn’t the same as fraud, or cooking the books. When the government does it, it’s called politics.

Just as Canberra is telling Australians that the economy is strong, and everything is going well. It’s a very different story when you speak to many business owners and operators on the Gold Coast. With the ATO getting more and more ruthless in their efforts to extract every possible dollar from hard working Australians, we’re seen an almost unprecedented number of small businesses closing down.

Banks are getting concerned at the rising number of foreclosures of home loans, and the alarming number of mortgage holders who are over one month behind on their repayments.

We’re seeing two different economies in Australi – the boom triggered by mining is offsetting the disaster that’s happening in the rest of the economy – is this another example of financial window dressing.

As the ATO continues to crackdown on companies, trusts, partnerships, employees and subcontractors, smart business operators are looking at whatever legal options are available to show reduced profits and save on tax liabilities.

Most profit smoothing involves pushing some amount of revenue and/or expenses into other years than they would normally be recorded. A common technique for profit smoothing is to delay normal maintenance and repairs.

This is referred to as deferred maintenance. Many routine and recurring maintenance costs required for autos, trucks, machines, equipment and buildings can be delayed, or deferred until later.

A business that spends a significant amount of money for employee training and development may delay these programs until the next year so the expense in the current year is lower.

A company can cut back on its current year’s outlays for market research and product development.

A business can ease up on its rules regarding when slow-paying customers are written off to expense as bad debts or uncollectible accounts receivable. The business can put off recording some of its bad debts expense until the next reporting year.

A fixed asset that is not being actively used may have very little current or future value to a business. Instead of writing off the un-depreciated cost of the impaired asset as a loss in the current year, the business might delay the write-off until the next year.

You can see how manipulating the timing of certain expenses can make an impact on net income. This isn’t illegal although companies can go too far in massaging the numbers so that its financial statements are misleading.

For the most part though, profit smoothing isn’t much more than robbing Peter to pay Paul. Accountants refer to these as compensatory effects. The effects next year offset and cancel out the effects in the current year. Less expense this year is balanced by more expense the next year.

There’s so much propaganda coming out of Canberra these days

Even the ABC has very biased reporting in favour of miss JuLIAR and Queen Anna

Following the NSW election results Our Queen Bee should start packing – With all her TV/ Media appearances, she should be fine for a career in the “Infotainment” Business

Here’s a comment on Facebook, by Kate Greenhalgh

I’ve been talking to friends and family members lately. They tell me business is really slowing down everywhere in retail, construction, and manufacturing on the GC.

Our unemployment rate has hit 6.9%, which is 1.9% above the national average and most of our labour comes from tertiary (service based) industries, so there will also be many who are classed as underemployed (working less than they need/would like) because the bulk of that labour is non-standard (part-time & casual).

I can really see us getting thrown into a recession through all these increses in basic utilities in the coming years because the cost of living is becoming unbarable for so many, particularly in the lower-income thresholds.

I hope not though….

So do we, Kate

<img class="right"src="http://www.yo2go.com/gold_coast_mobile_bookkeeping/allconnex-water-tax.jpg" alt="Water Is Not A Commodity To Be Exploited"title="How are politicians representing the people of South East Queensland by granting entities an independent power to set their own prices until 2013" />You’re not alone in believing that water is NOT a commodity that can be exploited by trading for a profit

Outside the Gold Coast City Council HQ at Evandale yesterday over one thousand Gold Coast residents were sending a clear message to Allconnex, GCCC and State Government

STOP THE BLAME GAME
Whatever reaction the State and Local Governments were expecting by trying to turn water into a commodity that can be traded for profit, it seems that all concerned are taking the attitude of “It’s not my fault”

The “It’s not my fault” culture is a sick disease that’s been cultivated over recent years in Australia – When something goes wrong, who can I sue? Who can I blame – Let’s have legislation to that says people can legally break and enter a place, beat someone up and get away free because their actions were performed “under the influence of drugs”

You’re paid to do a job – and part of that job is to take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for your actions – yes, it may seem a strange concept to politicians

At the Disconex Allconnex rally once again we saw “elected representatives” saying “Don’t blame me – It was Them!!”

Well, we are blaming you – all of you.

We’re blaming Allconnex for wanting to increase water costs by 20% this year and projected increases of similar amounts over the next few years.

We’re blaming the GCCC – Ron Clark, are you still an olympic runner? Because you should prove it by running back to Melbourne real quick.

We’re blaming the Bligh Government – Yes, dear Anna – what a wonderful job you did during the floods – by staying in front of TV Cameras every two hours you had no time to INTERFERE with the running of Queensland.

Instead the professionals, people that KNOW WHAT THEY’RE DOING could run the state of Queensland – without all the political garbage.

Quuen Anna, every other time you interfere in the running of Queensland, you send our State further into debt

“Pity-me” Cllr Peter Young is also saying it’s not his fault, pointing the finger at the Bligh Government

Susie Douglas got very loudly “boo-ed” . So much that she had to leave the stage.

BTW, who did pay for those T-Shirts that the councillors were so PROUDLY wearing? Another fine example of spending rate-payers money <s>wisely</s> frivilously

Dawn Crichlow publicly asked the Mayor how his “one-off” $50 rebate compensates for the fact that landlord receives the rebates, whilst the tenant pays the water rates.

Think how much admin costs can be saved by NOT CHARGING SO MUCH in the first place so there doesn’t have to be a rebate. Apparenlt the $50 rebate equates to around $11million –

Gosh, how generous – doesn’t that just about cover the salaries that we are paying these people?

Also, as Dawn so quite rightly pointed out, many of the staff at now working at Allconnex were working for GCCC and have now vacated their offices at Evendale

Have any of the other GCCC noticed? – there’s EMPTY SPACES at GCCC – so why do we need a new GCCC HQ in Robina?

Eddie Sarrof, (good on yer Eddie), was telling us how it is.
We know that he’s often gagged by other GCCC councillors FOR DOING HIS JOB and telling the public the real story.

How the GCCC will receive over 60% of the profits from Allconnex over the next few years, amounting to something like $700million

Anna Bligh, Ron Clark and Kim Woods, please explain to us ignorant stupid people again – how is this NOT a water tax?

No one fron Allconnex dare show up – after all they’re paid too much to have to work on a Sunday. How does Kim Woods justify paying himself $465,000 salary (plus undiclosed bonuses)? No wonder our water rates are so high.

He earned himself over $1800 in the time we were attending the rally – good on year, Kim. Can we ask you a favour? Please can you pay our water bill – you’ll still have some change left over – thanks, mate!

Apparently recent water increases for Allconnex have been due to increases in bulk water charges and additional retail/corporate costs relating to the establishment of the new entity. (Source: AEC Economics: Assessment of Driver of Recent Water Increases in SEQ, Nov 2010; Independent Review of SEQ Water Prices by former ACCC Commissioner Dr David Cousins Dec 2010)

YES, maybe that’s correct – BUT WHO ASKED FOR a new entity to be created? Certainly not the rate payers of South East Queensland

Allconnex’s prices are well below reasonable cost recovery, and ‘there is no evidence of an exercise of monopoly power’. (Source: Queensland Competition Authority Draft Report SEQ Interim Price Monitoring Feb 2011 p.9)

The Queensland Competition Authority, is a Queensland Government Statutory Authority overseeing monopoly prices – how unbiased will they be?

Really – who paid for that report to be undertaken? Please can they explain how we managed quite well to be supplied water five years ago before the 200% increase in water prices?

Please explain how anyone can come to the conclusion that ‘there is no evidence of an exercise of monopoly power’

Isn’t a monopoly where only one outfit supplies a product that everybody needs and they don’t have the choice to go elsewhere? Or is our dictionary out-of-date?

SEQ councils have only a very limited power to direct the water utilities as shareholders while the entities have an independent power to set their own prices until 2013 .

If that’s not a license to print money – then what is?

Please explain, all you ELECTED representatives:
How are you representing the people of South East Queensland by granting entities an independent power to set their own prices until 2013

… What was that about ‘there is no evidence of an exercise of monopoly power’

We’re often told that a healthy body makes a healthy mind. With a healthy mind, will that help you make a healthy business?

Our Gold Coast bookkeepers come across many small businesses that need a health check of their finances.

You can get so caught up in the day-to-day stuff of running a small business, that you forget to send out customer invoices, or never seem to have any time to chase up those unpaid accounts.

We can find ourselves stuck behind a desk all day, and never have time to exercise. However, the biggest challenge is not the exercising, but <a href="http://focusfitness.biz/why-join-focus-fitness-massage-studio-gym"title="10 reasons why you should join a gym">the reasons to keep you exercising.

What’s the truth about Carbon tax, which the Ju-Liar Gillard Government are planning to burden the country with?

This tax will drive the price of food via an increase in transport costs, as well as electricity and other living costs.

The proposed increases in fuel will also be adding further to the misery of ordinary Australians, and that’s before we even talk about the Allconnex water charges, which is another issue.

But what’s most disgusting about this proposed tax (which is in operation in various forms in other countries) is that it’s based on a complete lie

31,000 climatologists, historical weather experts etc, have signed a petition stating that global warming is not man-made but in fact caused by activity on the sun

Activity that has been proven to alter climate historically.

It’s not long ago back in the late seventies, early eighties that we were told a new Ice Age was coming, that did not happen so are we to now believe that the planet is heading towards a warming crisis.

The temperature drops when the Sun goes down, and increases when the Sun rises, to say the Sun does not influence earth’s temperature is totally mad and wrong.

The Australian Government and banks have total disregard for human beings who see us not as a precious life form but instead something that should be grinded into poverty and misery in order to keep us down

We need to pay attention to what’s going on because when you keep people in poverty and misery they are so distracted looking after themselves and their families that they have no energy left to question the shameful activities of their governments, and the banks.

This man made Global Warming agenda is a fraud and that the Carbon Tax is a result of that fraud which was all cleverly constructed by the World Bank as an arm of the New World Order – the same New World Order that was denied for years is now being announced as the cure to all our problems.

Its simple, just follow the money.

The Australian government is in debt after wasting billions of dollars in their “Stimulus Package” . So the government has to pay back the debt with interest on the loan.

The government pays for the loan through the revenues raised from people in this country, therefore the people are in debt and will be paying their Carbon Taxes via the government.

Who would have thought that the basic elements of life such as water and air would become things to be owned and controlled by governments, banks and their cohorts?

Remember that these taxes and charges are the thin end of the wedge and like all things that are not checked in time will become the final nail in the coffin as regards living any sort of happy decent life in Australia.

One of the greatest tricks the devil performed was convincing people he did not exist, and the devil is definitely in the detail about what the government propose for the people of this country.

Does Allconnex believe they can charge whatever they like for water, increase the charges as and when they feel like it, and think that Gold Coast residents will just sit back and let this happen?

If Allconnex thinks that South Est Queensland rate payers are unhappy about the hike in water fess, they’re right.

It’s not that people do not feel thay have to pay for water.

No, it’s about the 60% profit that Allconnex will be handing over to the Local Councils – and we all know what the Gold Coast Council wants to do with it’s windfall – build an Ivory Tower as the new headquarters, after spending all that money in Evandale

Has the State Government decided to sell an asset and hide somewhere in the small print that this is a licence to print money and a way of introducing a hidden tax to raise money for local authorities to fritter away

It seems that Allconnex feel that they can charge whatever they like for water, increase the charges as and when they feel like it, and think that Gold Coast residents will just sit back and let this happen

The State Government was quite happy to open the floodgates to money hungry fatcats that demand their company cars and squeaky-clean office building in Robina CBD all at the expense of the loacl residents

Maybe we should look through their bookwork and see where we can make some cost savings –

Is so easy to spend other people’s money ewhen you’ve not had to do any work to get it

Allconnex – A License To Print Money???

Allconnex should INVITE us to come in and look at the books, and see if we can't help them "shave their overheads" and improve the finacials of their operation

On the “Gold Coast Fights Allconnex” Facebook page, someone has received a response to the Allconnex letter:

1. There has been a significant investment made by the Qld Gov to make SE Qld drought resilient which required building infastructure

2.we are investing over the next 3 years to expand and improve water and meet the needs of expanding population.

3.The need for our business to generate fair returns for the 3 councils that hold the participation rights in Allconnex Water to re-invest back into their communities

We confirm your account was based on actual readings of your meter

Unless you seek a further review about these matters in next 10 business days we consider dispute resolved ( not on your life) and payment is now required

Signed Elanor Bray
Customer service.

Point 1.
Hasn’t the Queensland tax payer already paid for that “significant investment ” ? Or where has all the money gone that was raised in the sale of other State assets?
Since when does “building Infrastructure” mean a brand new $20million headquarters?
Point 2.
Developers already pay significant fees for “infrastructure” to meet the needs of expanding population. – Where has all THAT money gone?

Point 3.
“to generate fair returns for the 3 councils that hold the participation rights in Allconnex Water” – Surely this confirms that they are using the water rates as a reveune raising opportunity – isn’t that a TAX??

Not sure where it states in the Australian Constitution that Governments have the authority to add a tax to water usage

Any privately owned business does not rush out and hire a heap of staff until they need them as their business expands

Why is it that “corporate raiders” come along and shed any unnecessary or unproductive members of their workforce? Because they want to maximise profits

Allconnex, on the other hand, is quite happy to use their “blank chequebook” to create “jobs for the boys” with no apparent justification.

Allconnex should INVITE us to come in and look at the books, and see if we can’t help them “shave their overheads” and improve the finacials of their operation

We’ve helped many businesses that HAVE TO SURVIVE on limited incomes improve their bottomline and eliminate finacial wastage
