Customer Service Mushrooms to Oranges

Photo: Steve Garrington, http://flickr.com/people/wentloog/A while ago we were in a large Department Store at Pacific Fair in Broadbeach – “Do you have a XYZ card?”- What’s one of those? – “It’s a customer loyalty card!” – Oh, so you need a card for that these days, do you? What happened to the days when Customer Service resulted in Customer Loyalty?

That question created a blank and bemused look on the face of the floor staff! The marketing people at many large chain stores should head down to grass roots and see what’s happening in the community.

He gives us eight oranges, and as we turn to leave, he gives us an extra orange!

After seeing the mushroom man, we went to the man selling huge “blood” grapefruit, and some very tasty oranges, eight for three dollars. So he gives us the eight oranges, and as we turn to leave, he gives us an extra orange! These market traders understand the definition of customer service, something that the larger stores have forgotten.

Potential client contacts us because they wanted their bookwork done by yesterday
