Quickbooks v MYOB – Which is better?
This is a question that many people ask, hoping for a magic answer. Just like asking: “Which insurance policy is better?”
Does your bookkeeper prefer MYOB or QuickBooks accounting software package?
Better for what? All accounting software basically does the same thing, since bookkeeping really hasn’t changed much since the old reliability and diligence of Bob Cratchit from Charles Dickens’ time and way before that even
Ask a bookkeeper which accounting software package they prefer, is MYOB or QuickBooks better, and often they’ll tell you that the best software between the two is ( ………….. ) The answer being which ever package they happen to have more experience with – simple as that.

Being bookkeepers who are Professional Partners with both MYOB and Quickbooks we do not show any preference for either software package. From a marketing perspective, it seems that in Australia MYOB seems to be more commonly known. Thus MYOB seems to be more common amongst business owners, and by more bookkeepers.
If you’ve got an Apple Mac, then be warned that at present Quickbooks does not have a version that is compatible with the Macintosh OS in Australia. You could run Parallels on your MAC, and use Quickbooks in the Windows partition, but it is slow using that method
As regards inventory: MYOB Enterprise allows multi-location inventory. Quickbooks does not support multi-location inventory.
If you need to have more than nine screens open, then use Quickbooks. Quickbooks allows you to have as many windows open as you require within the one data file whereas MYOB is restricted to nine.
Quickbooks makes the endo of year transition seamless and allows you to continue working in the prior year after the financial year end.
